Mr. Girling Butcher Chief Of New Fire Service Council
AUCKLAND, Last Night <P.A.>Government appointees to the Fire I Service Council constituted under the , Fire Ser vices Act recently passed in the House of Representatives are Messrs. M. Connelly, M.L.C.- and R.M. Girling Butcher. The Minister of Internal Affairs. Mr. Parry, announcing this today, I said Mr. Girling Butcher will be chairman. An early announcement is exI peeled of the members to be appoint- ; ed by the underwriters, Municipal Association, United Fire Brigades’ Association. Federation of Fire Brigadesmen Unions, and the Fire Boards' As- ■ social ion. Mr. Parry said the first meeting of the council would probably be held ' before Christmas. Its work should mark a new era in the Dominion's lire-fighting of benefit to property . owners and a help to permanent and I volunteer firemen.
