Rocket-Firing Test Range In Australia

ADELAIDE, Nov. 4.—Some test rockets have already been fired at Woomera, where the British Commonwealth proving ground for guided missiles has been established. The Ministry of the Army. Mr. C. Chambers, will be present when more are fired today. These will include j small war-time weapons, used to test the instruments for tracking larger missiles. The range is 250 miles north-west of Adelaide. Already nearly 3000 people are living in the area. Work is proceeding on the main range, which will give a 1200-mile corridor running north-west to the Australian coast between Broome and Port Hedland and extending 1500 miles further <o Christmas Island, south of Java. Other ranges are in course of prepara* tion.
