OPPOSITION LEADER PAYS TRIBUTE TO MAYOR OF WANGANUI
“I have a very warm regard for Mr. Rogers. There is one thing about politics that is congenial, and that is that men can be political opponents but the very best of friends,” said the Leader of the Opposition (Mr. S. G. Holland), speaking in the Wanganui Opera House last night. Mr. Holland said he appreciated very much that Mr. Rogers, out of the goodness of his heart and in the midst of his busy life, had seen fit to accept the chairmanship of his meeting. Mr. Holland said that he wished to make it clear that his remarks would not be directed at Mr. Rogers. “I do not say that his politics are wrong,” he said. “I would say, however, that I think that I am right.”
