The first shots have been fired in what is termed the most “vital election in Britain for more than a century.” Left, the Prime Minister (Mr. Attlee), who described the' Conservative Party statement of policy as the “most dishonest document he had seen” and, (above), the Leader of the Conservative Party (Mr. Churchill), who blames the Labour Party for the present plight of Britain, largely because of what he says has been squandering of reserves, and for a costly nationalisation policy, which has turned profitmaking industries into loss-mak-ing, and has endangered the whole of the trade union movement.
