Interjections At The Auckland Meeting Not From Communist Party
I WELLINGTON, Last Night (PA).— I Interjections at a meeting addressed ;by the Prime Minister (Mr. Fraser) lat Auckland were not organised by the Communist Party, says a statement issued by the general secretary ■of the party, Mr. S. Scott: “As far as 'we can gather, the interjections ex- ■ pressed the spontaneous indignation .of individuals opposed to conscription and incensed by Press reports of inI terference with anti-conscription I meetings,” lhe statement adeted. i “Your claim that the Communist party is not entitled to speak over the air because of its connections with the Peace and Anti-conscription Fed- ' eration does not bear examination,” states the general secretary of the' Now Zealand Comunist party, in a I further telegram to the Prime Minister. The telegram refers to those granted broadcasting rights during the conscription referendum campaign, and Mr. Scott maintains that the Communist attitude towards the defence of New Zealand and allied questions had been seriously misrepresented. “We again insist on our right to speak over the air on the conscription I issue," the telegram adds.
