ADDITIONAL TROPHIES DONATED FOR N.Z. AND N.I. DUG TRIALS
Additional trophies have been donated for the North Island and New Zealand dog trials championships which are to be held or Mr. . Shannon’s property adjoining the Lismore station, from June 13 to June 22. Most of these- trophies have been given by people of the Wanganui district and can be won outright by the competitors. The numerous other special trophies to be competed for, are challenge trophies. Mr. E. card (Wanganui), Mr. A. McLeod (Okoia), Mr. H. J. Tod (Wanganui) and the executive committee of the Paparangi-Makirikir’i Sheep Dog Trials Club, which are conducting the championships, have each donated a trophy ior the winners of the North Island events The trophies, valued at 15 gns. each, will be given to the first placed competitor in the long head, short head, and yarding, zig-zag huntaway and straight huntaway, respectively. Four additional trophies, each valued at 25gns., have been given for competition in the New Zealand championship events. Ther/ is the R. O. White and P. Forrester trophy for the winner of the long head. Local donations have provided a trophy for the successful competitoi in the short head and yarding and the local settlers have given a trophy for the winner of the straight huntaway. The veteran competitor, Mr. A. McK. Matheson, of Middlemarch, who won the zig-zag huntaway last year donated his prize money for the purchase of a trophy to be given to the winner of the same event this year. The winner of each event in both the North Island and N.Z. championship will be awarded 30 per cent, of the entry lees. Second will receive 20 per cent.; third, 12; fourth, 8; fifth, 7; sixth, 5; seventh, 2L The first placed competitors • share in the long head and short head and yarding will be about £6O. Winners of the zig-zag huntaway and straight huntaway will receive in the vicinity of £4O. „
