BRITAIN PROTESTS TO EGYPT ABOUT SHIPS ANO CARGOES DETAINED
LONDON, May 31 (Recd. 6pm).— Representations have been made to the Egyptian Government by Sir Ron aid Campbell, British Ambassador in Cairo, about the detention of Britis. ships and the impounding of cargoer at Port Said, Suez and Alexandria. There have been many instances o this since last May, when martial law was declared in Egypt. Lately the Egyptian customs authorities haw been insisting that ships passing through the Suez Canal should furnish certificates that their cargoe would be consumed at the port of destination and not re-exported.
