WOOL NATIONS OF THE WORLD TO DISCUSS COMMON PROBLEMS

LONDON, May 31 (Recd. 8 pm).— Sixteen of the chief wool-consuming r.a ions of the world who are members of the International Wool Textile Organisation will meet to discuss matter;, of common interest in Florence this week. » Mr. Maurice Dubrulle (France) will preside, and in addition to wool tex tile representatives from all member countries, there will be observers from the U.S.A, and Uruguay. Australia. South Africa and New Zealand will be represented through the International Wool Secretariat, and by some of the delegates who have been attending recently annual meetings of the International Wool Publicity and Research Fund in London, includin Mr. J. Moolman, chairman of the South African Woo) Board and Mr A J. Mcßride, Australia. A full agenda will include a paper by a New Zealander, Mr. F. S. Arthur, general manager of the United Kingdom and Dominion Wool Disposals Ltd., who will speak on the disnnwls policy of the Joint Organisation, ’ give a report on the Japanese wool textile industry. Mr. Puce was on'" of the United kingdom represent; - fives who visited Japan some month ago to discuss with the authorities there the question of Japanese export competition in the wool textile markets. Other papers will deal with scientific research, the need for a common basis of trade statistics, the state oi wool production in Europe and the importance of wool textiles in Eurooean economic co-operation. A report will also be presented on behalf of the International Wool Secretariat by Mr. Ewen M. Waterman. Australian member. Efforts will be made to establish a code of fair trading in the description of wool textile products by discouraging the use of geographical place names, except by those entitled to use them by reason of location.
