WEST COAST (N. I. BEAT WELLINGTON IN GOLF MATCH

PALMERSTON NORTH, Last Night (P.A.)— The interprovincial golf match, Wellington v. West Coast, witii teams of 18-a-side, was played at the Hokowhitu course and resulted in a win for West Coast, which won live of the foursomes to three by Wellington, and eight of the singles to seven by Wellington. The course was in perfect order, but steady rain fell on Saturday afternoon, followed by misty rain for the singles. Taken right through, the golf was of a very high standard and most of the games were keenly contested. Highlights were the Hornabrook (Paraparaumu) v. Silk (Wanganui) match, in which Hornabrook squared when he won the 36th hole. The Glendenning (Manawatu) v. Reilly (Hutt) game, which finished in Reilly’s favour when Glendenning failed to halve the 36th, and the Church (Shandon) v. Johns (Manawatu) match, which probably produced the best golf of th ■ series.

Johns, who was against Church's brilliant golf in the morning, went in to lunch three down and shot 69 in the afternoon to win three and two. Others to play par golf included Amon (Manawatu) the Jeffreys (New Plymouth), and Roberts (Hutt). Results, Wellington players mentioned first, are:— J. P. Hornabrook halved with B. M. Silk; W. G.
