CHRIST CHURCH PARISH ENJOYED SUCCESSFUL FINANCIAL YEAR
"I know, too, you will be very pleased to hear that, despite very heavy expenses, we have finished the year with a credit oatance of about £400,” said the vicar, tlie Rev. J. R. L. Higgs, in his report to the annua! meeting of the parishioners of Christ Church last night. “Of this amount. £250 is from All Saints’ as a result of their special drive for freewill subscriptions, and which they are reserving in their own accounts. Every one of the churches bad increased collections this year and the Day of Giving realised more than usual.” “I cannot say how grateful I am to you all for this. If we can maintain this effort the clergy can be released more and more to do their real work, which is spiritual. During the coming year a fresh effort will be made to increase the freewill offering subscriptions on this side of the river, which at the moment, are only about £90.”
