Dairy Season May Be All-Time Record For The Dominion

The present dairy season was a remarkable one and was close to being an all-time record, said Mr. VV. E. Hale, chairman of the New Zealand Dairy Board, when speaking at a ward conference in Wanganui last night. This would be good news to the people of Great Britain, but it would oe wrong to feel that this would con■inue during the coming year. If climatic conditions were not so favourable next season and the same amount of butter and cheese could not be produced, a greater number of .ows would have to be -milked. The herd recording work of the Dairy Board was being strengthened each year, said Mr. Hale. The work of providing service organisations lor dairy farmers would be continued. In the years to come it might be found that this work had paid sound dividends. The board had to take a long view of the work of the industry and the building up of herd improvement as against the day when conditions might demand the maximum efficiency, said Mr. Hale.
