FIRST YORKSHIRE WICKET FALLS

Catch By Cave Off The Bowling Of Cresswell LONDON, May 2 (Rec. 12.14 a.m.)— At 11.30 am. (G.M.T.) Yorkshire, batting in the first innings against NewZealand in the first match of the New Zealand tour of Britain, had carried its Saturday evening’s score of none for eight to a total of one for 32. The first wicket of the tour to fall to the New 7 Zealanders was Halliday's who on Saturday had made five. He was caught by Cave, off Cressweli, when 14. resumed on the second day. Both Hutton and Halliday were batting cautiously. Burtt took the first over and off his last ball Hutton sent a perfect drive past point for four. Cowie began a trifle short, but his opening overs were maidens. Cave replaced Burtt at the other end after the left armer bowled one over, and kept an excellent length. The only other boundary in the first half-hour came when Hutton cut Cowie through the slips. After Cowie had four overs he was replaced by Cresswell, who immediately had Halliday perplexed and nearly caught him when diving full length to a very difficult chance.
