TRUST RESTAURANT IS TO CEASE SERVING OF LIQUOR; TOO COSTLY
INVERCARGILL, Last Night (P.A.) —The Invercargill Licensing Trust has decided to cease serving liquor at the Brown Owl Restaurant. A representative of the Trust stated today that it had been found uneconomic to serve liquor in the restaurant under the new award rates lor barmen. He added that an experiment to try and provide better drinking conditions had been well worth while, but most drinkers in the city preferred to patronise hotels operated by the Trust. If building restrictions became less severe and building costs receded, it was intended to enlarge the Brown Owl for use as a dining room as well as a tea room.
