April Issue Of Collegiate School Magazine

The April issue of “The Wanganui Collegian” records that by April 19 the debenture issue launched by thc Old Boys’ Association to help the Trustees reorganise their finances had exceeded £33,000. From the figures produced by the public accountant who was invited by the trustees to report on their affairs, it appeared that, the investment was a thoroughly sound one, and since obviously a sound financial organisation was essential to the welfare of the school, it was hoped that th e issue would be fully subscribed, the magazine states. It was highly satisfactory that the association should be so interested in the welfare of the school as to launch an undertaking of such magnitude, and also that so great a degree of cooperation had been achieved between the association and the board of trustees. Acknowledgment of th P manner in which thc acting-headmaster, the Rev. H. W. Austin, is carrying out his duties is made in the magazine, stating that in his responsible and ditli-| cult task Mr. Austin combines ability as an administrator with a genuine] devotion to the school and a clear understanding of its needs. The section devoted to old boys’ news records the activities of former members of the school in their different spheres of life. The success scored by the school dramatic society, in the production of H.M.S. Pinafore,] assisted by the school choir, and orchestra is recorded. The sports side of the school is fully covered, and mention is mad a of the improved standard of the wickets which led to high scoring in thc annual match with Christ’s College. Tribute to the groundsman for his keenness hard work is paid in the magazine.
