Magistrate’s Tribute
Paying a tribute to the staff of the Justice Department, Mr J. H. Salmon, S.M., said at a farewell gathering on the eve of his retirement yesterday that in 28 years on the Bench re had always been fortunate in having a loyal and efficient staff. “1 don’t know whether the Justice Department is particularly fortunate in the type of men who volunteer for this branch of the Civil Service, but the department has a wonderful corps of efficient officers, ’ Mr Salmon added. “It would be extremely difficult for me to carry out my duties if I did not have such a loyal staff. Governments and Ministers may change, and I believe that in my service I have seen five changes of Government, but the Civil Service remains,’* the magistrate added. “They are the instruments through which the Government functions an they will always be here.”
