Woman Appointed As Charge d’Affaires For N.Z. In Paris
INVERCARGILL, Last Night (PA).—Miss Jean MacKenzie, of Edendale, has been appointed to the position of Charge d'Affaires for New Zealand in Paris, the acting Prime Minister (Mr. Nash) announced tonight. This is the first time that the New Zealand Government lias had a diplomatic representative in France, and the first, time a woman has represented New Zealand in such an important post, overseas.
Miss MacKenzie is at present First Secretary to the High Commissioner for New Zealand in Australia. Mr. Nash said that he knew Miss MacKenzie’s ability and was sure that she would carry out her duties to the benefit of New Zealand and with credit to herself..
