Weddings
CURTIS-FISHER. The marriage took place at Christ Church, Wanganui, on April 23, of Shirley Laura, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Fisher, late of Wanganui, to Rowe Taylor, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Curtis, Selwyn Crescent, Wanganui. The Rev. J. R. L. Higgs officiated and Mr. Puryer was organist.
The bride, who entered the church with her uncle, Mr. A. E. R. Joblin, wore a frock of cream embossed taffeta with simply cut bodice, full flowing skirt draped at the back into a semi-bustle effect from which fell a flowing marquisette train embroidered in silver. A coronet of white delphiniums held in place the heirloom veil of Limerick lace. She carried a shower bouquet of cream roses, chrysanthemums, delphiniums and dahlias. The bride’s cousin, Mrs. T. R. Herbert (Napier) was matron of honour, and the ’maids were Miss Beryl Fisher, sister of bride (Napier) and Miss Beth Russell, Wanganui. Their frocks of ice-blue taffeta had closelitting low-waisted bodices, crinoline skirts with hip swathes finishing with bustle bows falling in flounces to the hems. They wore pastel toned Howers in their hair to match their shower bouquets. Two little flower girls, Margaret Ann Kirk and Lind,say Cowie, were dressed m i ce blue organdi e made on similar lines to the bridesmaids’ frocks. Mr. D. Curtis attended his brother as best man, and the groomsmen were Mr. G. Cutfield and Mr. I. Russell (Auckland). The ushers were Mr G. Curtis and Mi. D. Joblin. A reception was held at the Rutland Hotel. For going away the bride wore a heavy oyster astrachan coat over a brown taffeta frock, brown hat with dusky pink ostrich feathers. Mr. and Mrs. Curtis will reside in Palmerston North.*
