For the same energy consumption the OSRAM fluorescent lamp gives 4 times as much light as an ordinary tungsten filament lamp, and due to its greater luminous efficiency and to the inherent nature of the low-pressure discharge, these lamps radiate very little heat only a quarter of that of a tungsten lamp of equivalent light output. The light is well diffused and, due to the length of the lamp, shadows are reduced to a minimum. Osram Fluorescent Lamps are available in 80 watt (sft.) and 40 watt (4ft.) Tubes.
