Russian Objects To Standing Trial With Another Accused

NE.W YORK, April 14 (Rec. 6 pm) —Valentin Gubitchev, a Russian engineer formerly attached to the United Nations’ headquarters, said -in the Federal Court today that he did not want to be associated with the trial of Judith Copion, a former Justice Department employee. Guoitchev and Copion are charged jointly with conspiring to commit espionage. Gubitchev was in court today for a hearing to set the trial date. He again claimed diplomatic immunity. The judge set the date of the joint trial for May 21 Copion is due to go on trial in Washington on April 20 on an additional indictment which does not involve Gubitchev.
