Turkey Wants Regional Pact For The Mediterranean

WASHINGTON. April 14 (Recd. 8 pm). Necmeddim Sadak, Turkish Foreign Minister, today strongly urged the formation of a regional pact for the Mediterranean.

He said that Turkey considered the Atlantic Pact insufficient in some of its aspects for the maintenance of peace in Europe. Turkey wanted her security guaranteed by another regional pact which would be linked to the Atlantic Pact.

Sadak said the Truman doctrine was an assurance of the utmost import-

ance to Turkey, but Turkey's security, firstly, was guaranteed by the Turkish Army.
