New Appointments In Royal N.Z. Navy
WELLINGTON, Last Night <P.A> —New appointments in the Royal New Zealand Navy were announced on Thursday by the Minister of Deence (Mr. Jones). They are:— Commander (JE) E. A. G. Whittle, R.N., has been loaned to the Royal New Zealand Navy and will relieve in the near future Commander (E) C. R. Navergal, 0.8. E., D.S.C., R.N.. who is due to revert to the Royal Navy as Commander (E) and director of naval engineering in H.M.N.ZS. Bellona.
Commander R. C. Wat kin, R.N., has been loaned to the Royal New Zealand Navy and will relieve in due course Commander P. Phipps, D.S.C. and Bar, V.R.D., R.N.Z.N., as Commander H.M N.Z.S. Bellona. Lieutenant-Commander J. D. Keay. V.R.D., R.N.Z.N.. has been appointed to the Navy Ollice, Wellington, as Naval Assistant, Reserves and Mobilisation.
Lieutenant-Commander B. E. Turner, R.N.Z.N., will relieve LieutenantCommander Keay as executive officer in H.M.N.ZS. Philomel.
Lieutenant T. W. Stocker. R.N., will be in command of H.M.N.Z.S. Kaniere temporarily as relief for Lieutenant Commander Turner. Lieutenant-Commander J. E. A. O’Neill, D.S.C.. R.N Z.N., has rel eved Lieutenant Commander A. C. G. Mars, D. 5.0., D.S.C. and Bar, R.N. (who is due to revert to the Royal Navy) as first lieutenant temporarily in H.M.N.Z.S. Bellona. The Government has accepted the nomination of Captain Herbert Lovegrove, R.N., as second naval member of the New Zealand Naval Board. He will succeed Captain J. G. Hewitt, D. 5.0.. R.N.. who is due shortly to revert to the Royal Navy. It is expected that Captain Lovegrove will arrive in New Zealand in the Dominion Monarch early next June.
