SANSON NOTES

Women's Institutes There was an excellent attendance of members at the April meeting of Samon Women’s Institute, which was presided over by the president. Mrs. C. E. Eglinton. Birthday greet..;gs were expended to Mesdames Roberts. Fagan, Beattie, Mitchell and Dale. Arrangements were instituted for a trip to Palmerston North on April 21 to visit Mr Hollow's chrysanthemum garden and Libertyland* factory. Remits to the half-yearly council meeting in Feilding were fully discussed. It was resolved to hold a bring-and-buy stall at the May meeting in aid of Institute funds. A roll call on the \s o’ a lemon will also be taken. Competitions for the next meeting will be a chrysanthemum bloom, a truss of chrysanthemums, as \voll as the usual specimen bloom and shrub. Results of competition wore a follows:—Eggless gingerbread: Mrs Barry 1, Mrs T. M. Henson 2, Mrs O. C. Ellerm 3. Bloom: Mrs R. I- Jones 1, Mrs B. Young 2, Mrs S. Adams 3. Shrub: Mrs Eglinton 1, Mrs B. Young 2, Mrs G. Richardson 3. The president welcomed the visitors and introduced Mrs B. Roberts, who .gave a very interesting and instrv.c.■ivo talk entitled “The Voice of the British Women.” With'Mrs Roberts, who speaks from first-hand knowledge and a personal study of the women of Britain, all present marvelled at their fortitude and great courage in the face cf many difficulties of food shortages and endless queues. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mrs Roberts for an enjoyable address. The serving of supper by the hostesses brought a very pleasant evening to a close. The hostesses for next meeting will bo Medsames Adams, Bowater and Barry. EASTER DANCE. Arrangements are well in hand for he Easter Monday dance arranged by the combined cricket and hockey clubs in aid of the mower fund. It is anticipated there will be a large crowd present.
