AUCKLAND GIRL GUIDE CHOSEN TO REPRESENT N.Z. IN SWITZERLAND

AUCKLAND, Last Night (PA).—An Auckland girl, Miss Valerie Martin, of Parnell, has been chosen as the New Zealand Girl Guide to go to a Guide camp in Switzerland from July 25 to August 15. One Girl Guide from eight different countries has been offered this opportunity under a fund established in the United States by the Giri Scout Assertion to commemorate it' founder, Mrs. Juliette Low. Countries in addition to New Zealand are Australia, Italy, India, Pakistan. Luxemberg. America and Leichenstein. Miss Martin, who is 19 years old, is .studying tc. be a dispenser at the Auckland Hospital.- She will apply ior leave of absence for the trip to Switzer'and, and expects to sail in the Mataroa in May. She is a Sea Ranger member of one of the senior branches of the Girl Guide Movement, in Nev Zealand. Iler fare from New Zealand to Switzerland and back, and all her living e.xpeires while in camp, will be paid from the American fund. The runner-up was also an Auckland girl. Miss Pat Beatty, a member of Ihe Rahiri Rangers.
