Wellington Regiment Of World War One

WANGANUI BRANCH FORMED A branch of the Wellington Regimental Association (Ist N.Z.E.F.) was formed in Wanganui last night, at a meeting called to arrange for transport and accommodation for those who arc to attend the annual reunion in Palmerston North during Anzac Day week-end. Last year constitution and rules of the association were adopted at the reunion, and Mr. W. H. Cunninghame, of Wellington, was elected president and Mr. O, L. Rodgers, of Palmerston North, honorary secretary. Requests were made to form branches in the various centres, and formal steps were taken in Wanganui last night to form the Wanganui branch. All who served overseas with the Wellington Regiment in World War I are eligible to join, and the annual subscription has been fixed at 2s 6d a year. The following officers were elected by the Wanganui branch: Chairman, Mr. D. G. Strachan; honorary secretary, Mr. W. F. Thomas; committee, Messrs. J. H. Henson, H. H. B. Hughes and L. Kerr. At this year’s reunion members attending are to be the guests of the Maaawatu Trotting Club at the trotting meeting on the Saturday before Anzac Day. Transport arrangements were made at last night’s meeting and copies of the regimental roll were made available to new members. It was indicated that about 20 Wanganui members would be attending this year's reunion.
