FIRE BRIGADE DISPLAY. An hour’s demonstration of how not to deal with a fire, amused a fair crowd at the Darktown Fire Brigade’s display on Marton Park on Saturday night. A small “building” was set alight and the brigade expended plenty of energy and much water in trying to extinguish the lire. The display was part of the Fire Brigade’s Queen Carnival activities to raise £3OOO for a new tire engine. Carnival attractions and side shows, after the demonstration, were well patronised by the crowd remaining.
