WANGAEHU NOTES

SPORTS CLUB WANGAEHU, Feb. 21 (OC).The schedule has been issued for the 3rd Annual Sports Meeting to be held on Mr. L. A. Mackintosh’s property at Wangaehu on Saturday next. The energetic committee has used every means in its power to make this meeting an outstanding success. Some additions to last year’s programme are worthy of note. Mr. T. Collins has donated a Challenge Cup for a pony jump over 13.2 and under 14.2, and Mr. E. Downs a trophy for a pony jump under 13.2. A novelty item will be provided with the competition for the fastest walking horse. The trophy for the Open Leap is o Silver Tea Service, and that for the Open Jump, the George Gray Challenge Cup. An added attraction will be a demonstration by a Wanganui Girl’s marching team. A full programme of athletics, combined with National Dancing and, Maori Team competitions has been arranged, and the Maori Hangi will again be in evidence. The usual facilities such as hot water and the sale of light refreshments on the grounds will serve the needs of those attending. Admittance to the grounds is 2/with car-parking 1/- extra. School children will be admitted free of charge. Given fine weather the committee may expect a record attendance, and an outstanding success, of which they are so well deserving. EUCHRE PARTY The T.T.C. Euchre party was most successful, there being an attendance of 40 players. The sum of £6/1/9 was realised. Winners of the ladies’ trophies were Miss B. Downs, and Mrs. Shaw, and the mens’ trophies were won by Messrs. 11. Thompson and K. Stanford. The bag of flour was won by Mr. W. Thompson.
