LONDON, Feb. 22 (Recd. 6pm).— Buenos Aires reports state that the Argentine army, upon the support of which President Peron largely depends for his authority, is showing increasing restiveness, and behind the scenes is demanding that the President’s wife, Senora Evita Peron, should cease to intervene in public affairs.

Influential sections of the army consider that Peron is too much subject to “petticoat rule,” and that the time

Peron, accompanied by his wife, adi dressed an audience of 300,000 people 'in Buenos Aires on Sunday. He made this an occasion for reiterating his intention of protecting the Argentine’s financial ar.d economic independence. “Where previously I swore to cut off my hands before taking a foreign loan,” he said- “I now vow to shoot myself before weakening our economic independence. - ’ The crowd repeatedly called for Senora Peron, but although she open- : cd her arms to them and fluttered her scarf, she did not. address them- ' (Special N.Z.P.A.
