Spirited Competition At Marton Fair
The New Zealand Farmers’ Co-operative Distributing Company Limited, report on the Marton Ewe Fair as follows. “The sale was held on Monday, February 14, so as not to clash with Fordell and the change proved successful. To a large attendance of farmers we yarded some 3,000 sheep which sold to spirited competition. The 2tooth ewes 62/-, 60/; 4-tooth ewes 49/-, 6tooths were mostly of medium quality although there were some good pens yarded. Top price in the 2-tooth section was secured by an entry of 118 on account of J. H. Ark-
wright which realised 51/-, another pen of 90 from the same cendor brought 50/-. D. M. Lethbridges line of 300 medium 2-tooths went at 46/9. E. H. Simpson’s 150 5-year ewes made 32/6. Monday will in future be the day for the Marton Sale.' ‘‘Prices:—Good 2-tooth ewes from 47/- to 51/-; medium 2-tooth ewes from 46/- to 46/9; 2-tooth wethers 37/-; M.A. ewes 25/6 to 37/6; 5-year ewes 32/6; 4 and 5-year ewes 29/-; low conditioned 5-year ewes 17/6; Sh b.f. lambs 26/7; 1 shear S.W. rams from 6 guineas to 8 guineas.
