SANSON NOTES

School Committee SANSON, Feb. 14 (OC).—A meeting of the Sanson School Committee was presided over by the chairman (Mr. S. L. Kent). Other committeemen present were Messrs. E. Wilcock, R. H. Leatham and L. Sparrow. In reply to representation made by the committee seeking assistance in the replacement of materials stolen from the school, the Wanganu Education Board' advised that the matter was being referred to the Education Department. Miss A. Evans, infant mistress, advised she had accepted an appointment in the South Island, and tendered her resignation. Members expressed regret at Miss Evans' coming departure, and it was resolved to forward her a letter of thanks for hetwork and interest during the term she had been associated with the school. Messrs. Leatham and Wilcock were appointed delegates to the Manawatu District Schools' Association meeting. After discussion on the question of proceeding with the combined school sports to be held at Rongotea shortly, the committee was unanimous of the opinion to proceed. The chairman reoprted that the necessary materials for the topdressing of the bituminous play area had come to hand, and it was agreed to undertake the work per medium of a voluntary working bee on Saturday, February 26. Parents are to be communicated with with the request to assist with the work. It was decided to hold the annual school picnic on the Bulls Domain on Saturday, March 12. The drawing up of a suitable programme being left in the hands of Messrs. Kent and Sparrow. PERSONAL Mrs. C. J. Edmonds has returned from her visit to the South Island. Mrs. Lawrence of Auckland who has been the guest of Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Lawrence is now spending a holiday with Mr. and Mrs. B. S. Lawrence. Messrs. I. Staite and S. Tattle have left for a motoring tour of the North Island-. CRICKET The Sanson Cricket Club defeated the Marton Railway team in an al! day game played at the week-end with a margin of 10 wickets.
