Should Liquor Seized From King Country Clubs Be Confiscated?

RAETIHI, Last Night (OC).--Ap-plication for the return of liquor seized was made at the monthly sitting of the Magistrate’s Court by the Cosmopolitan, R.S.A. and Raetihi Clubs. The liquor was taken from the three institutions when they were visited by the nolice on October 22 of last year, the total amount seized being 56 dozen of bottled beer and some odd amounts of spirits. Following the raids each of the clubs was convicted for keeping liquor for sale, but no order was made for the confiscation of the material and it was held hv the police pending possible developments before the February sitting of the Court. Appearing for the Cosmopolitan Club, Mr. L. N. Ritchie stated that provision had been made in recent legislation for club charters, but these had not yet been granted.
