Adelaide Company’s Writ For Million From Commonwealth
MELBOURNE, Jan. 17 (Reed. 11.30 pm).—A writ was issued on behalf of an Adelaide company, Tantait e Ltd., claiming damages exceeding £1,000,000 (Australian) from the Commonwealth. The company alleges that between January 18, 1943, and January 14, 1948, the Commonwealth seized or disposed of a quantity of caesiumbearing ore, or, alternatively, that the Commonwealth received the ore under contract to extract the caesium and pay th e company for it, but did not do so. Caesium is used mainly in photo-electric cells and radio valves.
