EXPORT MEAT

KILLINGS MAY BE A RECORD Stock having moved slowly into the North island works in the early part part of the season, killings, of meat for export during the first three months of the current season, from October 1 to January 1, have been sii’htly below the figures for the same period last year. The average weights of most classes of stock, however, have been higher than in the first quarter of last season, and with stock now moving fast through the freezing works a record season is in prospect. Figures of freight carcases port prepared by the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board for the quarter, with those for the same quarter in 1947 in parentheses, are as follows :
