Dutch Deny Report That Guerrillas Are Destroying Property
THE HAGUE, Jan. 15 (Recd. 6pm) —The Netherlands Government said the statement yesterday by United Nations military observers in Indonesia that guerrillas were disrupting communications and destroying property on a large scale, was "not free from partiality." “The report gave a completely misleading picture of the real situation," said the statement.
Observers compiled their report at Sourabaya and did not visit central Java at all, and were, therefore, “guided by supposition." The observers’ statement that there was insufficient Dutch troops to prevent roving guerrilla bands from committing sabotage freely "goes far beond the competency of military observers," the statement added.— Reuter.
