Saturday's Softball Results

Saturday saw. the commencement of softball games after the Christmas recess. All games played were of a high standard. Results:— Red Sox: 2 0 1 0 4 o—7. Wanganui East: 0 2 0 1 1 1 I—6. In a closely contested game Red Sox were able to better Wanganui East’s score by one run and emerge the winner. A Templeton (W E.) and M. Hopper (Red Sox) hit home runs. Giants: 0 0 0 5 11 0 5—21. United: 0 2 0 0 2 0 Giants proved the stronger team to win easily from United, who collapsed in the fifth innings. Star: 9 I'6 6 6 2 2—28. Aces: 0 6 4 0 6 3 I—l 4. Star batted well against Aces to win comfortably in a big scoring game. J. Payne and L. Reardon (Star) hit home runs. WOMEN. Amazons: 4 4 0 22 0 I—l 3. Hinemoa: 0 0 0 1 0 0 o—l.0 —1. Amazons defeated Hinemoa comfortably with J. Lowe and B. Gibson scoring home runs. A. Hood's pitching was well up to standard. Dodgers defeated Children’s Garments by default St. Mary’s: 6 2 1 2 5 2—lB. M.1.A.: 0 0 22 8 3—15. In a closely contested game throughout, St. Mary’s emerged the winners by three runs.
