Fire In Wanganui Felt Factory; Damage Estimated At £300
Damage estimated at £3OO, to plant and stock, was done by a fire which occurred in John Grant's felt factory in Ridgway Street yesterday morning. I The fire developed in a matter of seconds and had a good hold by the time th e brigade arrived I Two tenders were dispatched from 'the Central Fire Station when the [call was received at 11.30 a.m., and two leads of hose were soon checking the spread of the flames, which had forced their way through several ground floor windows and scorched [the paintwork up to the second floor. (They were held at that point. Efficient work of the firemen made a good save, considering the swiftness with which the flames spread. It was the second outbreak at the factory in about eight months. The tire is'thought to have been caused by a spark from a shredding machine.
