CONDITIONS OF SERVICE: During the first four years of training, Artificer apprentices work in H.M.N.Z. Dockyard, Devonport, Auckland, under the same conditions generally as the civilian apprentices. They are required to live out and will not wear uniform. From the fifth year Naval uniform will be worn and apprentices will live in Naval Shore Establishments or ships. PAY: In the first year £l7l per annum (£2Ol if living away from home) rising to £238 in fourth year. In fifth year pav as Artificer commences £6/11/3 per week.
