"Every elioi't is being made to complete the Marton iDstnct High School new buildings as soon as possible,” reported the architect (Mr. L. S. Deceptive Weather. The weather in Wanganui yesterday was cloudy to overcast for the most part and rather deceptive, particularly in the late afternoon, when there was every indication that a downpour was imminent. A few spots ol rain fell at about 4.45 and people who had them put on raincoats, but the rain passed off. The wind was from a northerly quarter and the atmosphere was very humid. Last night was fine, but cloudy and very warm, with a threat of rain persisting.

College Congratu.ated The action of the Waneanui Technical College in sending a concert party to Waverley recently to assist the funds of the Waveney District High School was commended at yesterday’s meeting of the Wanganui Education Board. Mr. N. Bromiley, of Waverley, said that about 130 pupils had made the trip at no expense to the Waverley school, and he.thought the party's action should be commended by the board. An appropriate letter is to be forwarded to the Technical College Board of Managers. Rainfall at Bulls.

Dalrymple (Parewanui), 3.77in5. of rain fell on 12 days in the Bulls district during November, compared with ,95ins. on five days during the corresponding! month last year. The average for November is 3.04in5., the highest recorded being 6.79in5. in November, 1922, of which 3.oBins. fell during the last four days of the month. Pointing out that the school attended by a recent victim of infantile paralysis had inadequate washing facilities for the pupils, the Education Department advised yesterday’s meeting of the Wanganui Education Board that steps should be taken to ensure that facilities were adequate at all schools as personal hygiene was an essential factor in safeguarding the health of children. Mr. I. W. Mudford considered that the old type of washbasin used in some schools should be replaced as they were difficult to keep clean. On the suggestion of the chairman, Mr. W. B. Tennant, it was decided that the architect should prepare a report on schools where the washing facilities could be improved. District Rotary Forum. Representatives from outside centres attended a district forum which was arranged by the Wanganui Rotary Club recently. Following dinner in the Savage Club Hall, a brief address was given by the District Governor of Rotary, Mr. W. Calder Mackay, of Auckland, and community songs were sung. A two-hour session was then conducted by the Rev. A. C. McLean, during which the following questions were answered by a “brains trust” and thrown open for general discussion?“ls United Nations a Failure?” “What United Nations agency do you consider the most important, taking tl ■ long view?” “Should New Zealand have ratified the Bretton Woods Agreements ” “Do you think Russia is bent on aggression?” “Do you favour Atlantic Union unreservedly?” “Is has been argued that the war crimes trials and sentences have been so prolonged as to defeat their end. Do you agree?”
