Settlement Of The U.S. Longshoremen’s 74-Day Strike
(N.Z. P. A.—Copyright.) SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 26 (Rec. 7.30 pm).—Settlement of the west coast longshoremen’s strike has been announced after a 71-day tie-up. The agreement is subject to ratification by both employers and the union, but it is expected work will be resumed early next week.
The agreement provides for 15 cents an hour increase, which is what the dockers have been demanding.
The employers estimate the strike cost 4,000,000 dollars a day.
