NOTICE is hereby given that the Rangitikei Catchment Board, at its Ordinary Monthly Meeting held on November 11, 1948, resolved: "That pursuant to Section 13 (1) of its By-laws, the Board hereby authorises the burning in its district excepting on the lands hereinafter described, namely:— FIRSTLY—AII those lands in the Tongariro Fire Control Area situated in the Waimarino and Taupo Counties the boundaries of which area are generally as follow:—Commencing at Mt. Ruapehu eastwards to the Desert Road, thence southerly to Waiouru. thence westwards along the Main I’runk Rai way to Waitangi, thence along the Wangaehu River to Rangiwaea 4F 4B Block, thence northerly to the Main Trunk Railway, thence again westerly along the said Railway to Horopito and thence northeastwards to Mt. Ruapehu, as the same are more particularly delineated on the plan edged red and deposited in the offices of the Board at Marton and more particularly described in the said resolution. SECONDLY—AII Those lands in the Waiouru-Kaimanawa Fire Control Area situate in the Taupo and Rangitikei Counties, the boundaries of which are generally as follows:—Commencing at Trig. Ngapuketurua, the northernmost point of the Board’s district south-westerly to the Desert Road to Turangarere, thence northeasterly to and along the north-east-ern boundary of Molukawa 2B Block, thence easterly to and along the Moa-whango-Napier Road to the Board’s eastern boundary and thence northerly along the said eastern boundary to the point of commencement, as the same are more particularly delineated on the plan edged blue and deposited in the Board’s office at Marton and more particularly described in the said resolution. SUBJECT to the following conditions:— (1) Any restrictions against lighting of fires authorised by the Rural and Forest Fires Act 1947, the Forest Act 1921-22 or by any other statute or regulation. (2) Recission of such authority at any time by resolution or tjy radio or other methods of notification when weather conditions are such as may cause extreme fire hazard. (3) Notwithstanding such adthority. no fires shall be lit if at the time of lighting either a strong wind is blowing or conditions are such as may cause a fire to spread, and no person having caused a fire to be lighted shall be discharged from liability for damage caused by any such fire. NOTE. The effect of the hove resolution is that Permits to Burn are now required, before burning can be carried out on lands lying within the boundaries of the firstly and secondly described above. Applications for such permits must be lodged with the Board at let sf one calendar month before the time nominated in such application for burning. When permission is sought to burn I wtihin one calendar month, an application will not be considered unless the applicant undertakes in writing to pay inspection expenses. M. C.
