RANG! (IRA ROAD OPiiNiflG
HUNTERVILLE, Last Night (OC). The question of opening the Rangitira Road was again discussed at me annual meeting ol the Hunterville Chamber of Commerce. In reply to a letter, the member for the district, Mr. E. B. Gordon, promised his support, and said thai lie would take tne matter up with the Minister of Works. This road, it was pointed out, would benefit the settlers at Putorino, giving them better access to Hunterville, the school bus and the rural mail service could also be re-routed for better service.
The stationmaster advised that a light had been placed in the station yards as suggested. That a post-box had been erected in Ongo Road, and one at the southern end of the station yards was advised by the postmaster. The Automobile Association noticed the erection of signs on the main highway, both north and south of Hunterville. It was decided that the Xmas festivities, postponed last year, should take place this year on December 24, commencing at 1 p.m. It was decided that the festivities would mainly feature a parade of decorated children’s vehicles.
