Miss Sparrow, of Dunedin, arrived in Wanganui yesterday and is the fruest of her sister, Mrs. J. H. H. Hill, Grey Street.

Lady Hindley. of Kensington, England, has arrived in New Zealand and is now the guest of Mrs. Seton Montgomerie, of Taukoro, Parapara Road.

Mrs. M. McCarthy has returned to Wanganui from a visit to Hanmer and Christchurch.

Mrs. A. F. Croasdale's appointment as assistant music mistress at the Wanganui Girls’ College was approved at Thursday's monthly meeting of the Board of Governors. The appointment is to take effect from February

Mrs. Beaumont Bates, who is leaving Wanganui shortly to take up residence in Auckland, was farewelled by the executive committee of the National Council of V/omen at morning tea in the D.I.C. on Thursday. Also present were the past Dominion secretary of the N.C.W.. Mrs. E. J. Chesswas, and the treasurer, Mrs. A. E. Gould. A shoulder spray was presented to the guest-of-honour who has been a member of the Wanganui branch for 11 years, holding the positions of secretary, president and Dominion president. Labour Party Baby Show. At a successful Paddy's Market held by the Wanganui branch of the Labour Party (Women's Section) in the Drill Hall vfsterday, a baby show was held when the judges, Sister O’llalloran and Mrs. J. B. Cotterill, made the following awards: 6 to 12 months, Robert and Bruce Christenson twins, 1; Owen Campbell. 2; 12 to 18 months. Marie Smith 1. Llovd Fitness (Westmere), 2. Mrs. Stilborn judged the sponge cake competition, Mrs. Kane being the winner.

Partv For Northern Princess. A delightful party to aid the northern princess (Miss Judith Collier), in the Scot’s Memorial Hall campaign was given bv Mr. L. R. W. Reid, of •Marahau, ’ Maxwell, on Thursday , 11 ) e P art y was highly successful both from a financial and social point of view. Competitions, games and dancing were enjoyed by the many present. The Pipe Band was in attendance and played for the dancing. Miss Margaret Grant (Waverley) one of the princess' attendants was present.

After Concert Supper Party. At the conclusion of the Wanganui Ladies' Choir Concert on Wednesday evening, the assisting artists were entertained by the committee at supper at the home of Mrs. H. Wilson, Ingestre Street. During supper items were given by Mrs. Berry, Miss Smith and Messrs Sutherland, Haar and Tipper. Outstnding Woman Speaker. Described as one of the finest women speakers ever to visit New Zealand, Mrs. Bamber. of London, is to come to Wanganui next Monday. Mrs. Bamber, whose husband, the Rev. Theo Bamber, is a widely known preacher, is touring New Zealand, prior to going with her husband to conventions in Australia. A meeting for ladies will be addressed by Mrs. Bamber while she is in Wanganui.
