CITY OF MUKDEN SAID TO HAVE FALLEN TO REDS
NEW YORK, Oct. 31 (Recd, Bpm). The Associated Press Nanking correspondent says that according to reliable reports, Mukden, Manchuria’s largest city, has fallen to the Communists. Mukden’s fall to the Reds would mean the Government’s loss of practically all Manchuria. The United. Press Washington correspondent says high-ranking Government officials are reported to be considering evacuation of American naval forces from the Communistthreatened Chinese port of Tsingtao. Areas around the port have been infiltrated by Communists and they may soon make a link with the northern Communist forces. The American Navy has three cruisers and 12 destroyers in the area, where they have been traianing Chinese naval crews for the last three years. An official report in Au.gust gave the number of Marines in Tsingtao as 3470.
