PROFIT OF B. J. BALL
Consolidated net profit of B. J. Ball, Ltd., paper merchants, and subsidiaries,, for the year ended June 30 was £26,210 after providing £19,467 for taxation and £5790 for depreciation. This compares with a net result last year of £23.459 after providing £14,122 for taxation and £2632 for depreciation. The parent company shows a net profit of £10,144, against £10,670. Ordinary dividend, reduced from 12i per cent, to 10 per cent., is paid from tax-free reserves and absorbs £6200. Preference dividend of 5 per cent, requires £3lOO. The directors state that increased expenses adversely affected the net trading profit, which was disappointing in view of higher turnover and larger capital.
