RANGITIKEI, WHANGAREI RACES, AND N.Z. TROTTING CUP TODAY
With the Wellington meeting over and the C.J.C. fixture still three weeks off, racegoers will enjoy a comparative spell, but the Rangitikei Racing Club meeting today will give a line on the Levin and Stratford fixtures for next Saturday, with Feilding to follow. The Whangarei meeting, which commenced yesterday, will be concluded today and will be the only other race meeting in New Zealand, but across the Tasman the Victoria Derby and Cantala Stakes will be feature events on the opening day at Flemington, where the Melbourne Cup will be decided on Tuesday. The New Zealand Trotting Cup will be the feature attraction in the light-harness sport, and there will also be trotting at Thames and Invercargill.
