Disastrous Drought In Queensland

BRISBANE, Oct. 29 (Recd. 11.19 pm).—A disastrous drought is gripping the rich cattle-fattening area on the eastern edge of the vast tableland in the north-west of Queensland. Water supplies from bores on most stations are almost exhausted, and

all surface water vanished long ago. Cattle are dying in hundreds, and the position is so acute that, geological and irrigation experts are surveying the area to see if water can be obtained by sinking bores to a greater depth than those which have dried up.
