New Zealand Gun Dog Championships; Wanganui Successes

Wanganui competitors were among the place-getters at the New Zealand Gun Dog championships held at Upper Hutt over the Labour Day weekend. Entries were received from all parts of the Dominion and the standard was high. The judges were Messrs P. Hennessy (Invercargill), C. Sowden (Christchurch) and G. Maye (Lower Hutt). Mr. W. Davis’ Irish Water Spaniel, Brown of Tongariri won the Spaniel championship for the third time, with 148 points. In the same section, with Queen of Kilrona, he was third. The same owner was first in the water seclion. In the New Zealand \!l breed Mr. Davis was third with 157 points. Messrs Robbie and Izard’s Ch. Derley Beechtwigg (Imp.) was sixth with 150 points. In the land section of this event the Ch. Derley Beechtwigg was first. In the Retriever championship the same dog was second with 156 points.
