Reactions To European Gesture Seem Favourable In U.S. WASHINGTON, Oct. 26 (Rec. 8.45 pm).—Military and diplomatic officials today welcomed the agreement in principle o£ the five signatories of the Brussels Pact to join the North Atlantic Defence Pact with the United States and Canada.

The United States participation in the pact is regarded as assured, although approval by the new Congress will be necessary. Both Mr. Truman and Mr. Dewey have endorsed the assoeiati'/n of the United States with such a pact.
