MORE WEIGHT-FOR-AGE RACES FOR SIGNAL OFFICER'S CLASS
Winner of the Harcourt Stakes at Trentham on Saturday, Signal Officer earned £2OOO at the Wellington Racing Club’s meeting, his win being worth £l3OO and his second placing in the firstday Wellington Handicap £7OO. Last season Signal Officer’s winnings totalled £11,789, but with the weights he has now earned — he would have had to carry 10.6 on the middle day at Trentham—most of bis racing may have to be done under weight-for-age conditions. Under the circumstances it is pleasing to find that still more clubs are catering for such performers, and the opportunities for horses like Signal Officer and Beau le. Havre, to mention only a couple, may compensate for their limited scope.
