More Care Urged For Injured Jockeys
I WELLINGTON, Last. Night (PA).— lAn appeal to racing club executive* | to make certain that jockeys injured !in race accidents were given attention with as litt’e delay as possible was made by the president, Mr- W. J. I Broughton, at the annual meeting of I*he New Zealand Jockeys’ Association. I Mr. Broughton cited a recent case i where a jockey had been examined cn the course by a doctor and left resting for two hours. At a subsequent examination he was found to have three broken ribs and internal injuries, and his immediate removal to hospital was ordered. Cases such as these, said the president. stressed the need for more careful examination and speedy treatment. Mr. Broughton was re-e-ected president, and Messrs L. J. Ellis and T. W. Green vice-presidents.
