South Spit Break Is Completely Sealed
“The South Spit break is completely blocked and raised above high-tide level right across the gap,” reported the supervisor (Mr. T. G. Mullins) at yesterday’s meeting of the Wanganui Flarbour Board. “Work is continuing in the capping and raising of this wall. “The threatened break behind the Mana has been ttniporari.y blocked, but this part will need constant attention until such time as a wal can be built with stone and concrete. A close watch is being !:c-pt on the travelling bays on the beach as these are the destrnc-Ive agents on the spit. To date the pi cs on the beach have he’d their own in retiming sand. “During the month 207 cubic- yards of shingle were placed m the South iSpir and 228 cubic yards of concrete were poured.
